Beginner Tip:
Quickly Resize Your Images In FrontPage

Our second September newsletter contained a Beginner Tip that warned the users of WYSIWYG editors not to manually resize images in the editor, but to use a graphics program. However, subscriber Richard Winn alerted us to another technique that works in FrontPage.
This method degrades image quality slightly, but it's quick and lets you avoid opening a graphics program.
FrontPage "Resample" Button
Once a graphic has been altered through resizing in FrontPage 2000, clicking on the Resample button changes the original graphic to the new HEIGHT and WIDTH dimensions and reduces the file size as well.
When the HTML page is saved, the now altered graphic (with new dimensions) will overwrite the previous one unless you save it with using a different file name. Resampling also does a pretty good job of cleaning up the artifacts left behind when the graphic is altered by resizing.
A dedicated graphics program like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro may be a bit better at resizing graphics, but FrontPage's resample button does a decent job and is certainly easier than opening a new application just to change the dimensions on a simple graphic.
In FrontPage 2000, the Resample button is in the bottom toolbar:
When you select the graphic, the toolbar pops up at the bottom of your page:
Thanks to Richard for that great addition to our story. Remember that we get many of our Webmaster Tip ideas from our subscribers, so if you have a tip or have a subject you'd like us to cover, please let us know!
